CHARLIE YAKICH and his wife, Julie are residents of Twilight Borough. Charlie, Julie and their three daughters, Kayla (Registered Nurse), Nicole (Speech Pathologist), and Charlene (Cake Decorator for Bethel Bakery) are graduates of Charleroi High school.
Charlie is currently employed by the Pennsylvania department of Transportation. He is a 38-year active member in the Charleroi Fire Department, which he serves as an Engineer and Treasurer. He is Finance Officer and Past Commander of the Roscoe Sons of the American Legion. He is District Commander of the 25th District of the Sons of the American Legion. A member and Treasurer of the Charleroi Knights of Columbus. Member of the Mon Valley Career and Technology Center Joint Operating Committee (JOC) which he currently serves as President. A member of the Relay for Life Committee. A past volunteer softball coach for Charleroi Area High School. Honorary State Life Member of the Pennsylvania PTA. Past PTA President of the Charleroi Area Elementary PTA. Past Regional Director for the Pennsylvania PTA Region 9. He was a recipient of the Jefferson Award, an award that is the country’s longest standing and most prestigious award dedicated to activating and celebrating public service.
Charlie has served on the Charleroi Area School Board since 2007. While a school director, he has served as chairman of the Athletic Committee, and is a member of the Budget and Finance Committee. Additionally, he is a board representative to SHASDA (South Hills Area School District Association).
